A Kibbe body type is a style identity from the image-typing system created by stylist David Kibbe in his 1987 book Metamorphosis. Instead of measuring where you carry weight, the system reads the overall lines of your body — the length of your skeleton, the shape of your bones, and how flesh sits on your frame — and places you on a spectrum between sharp, elongated yang and soft, rounded yin.
There are 13 Kibbe body types grouped into five families: Dramatic, Natural, Classic, Gamine, and Romantic. Pure types sit at the extremes or the balance point of their family, while soft, dramatic, flamboyant, and theatrical variants blend in a little of the opposite energy.
